The <div> tag
The <div> tag helps you to make columns in your WordPress without plugins. Follow the given steps below to add a column. (This is applicable for both WordPress posts and pages)
- Choosing a post
Select a post you wish to add columns on(marked 1) or you could create a new post if you like adding columns on them(marked 2)
- Custom HTML Block
In the post, select the plus sign near a block, inside the search box type ‘custom HTML’. A custom HTML button will appear, click on it.
- Adding codes
Add the following piece of code under the HTML section to add two columns to your post. The following code can be used if you have a fixed two column theme to all your posts. Finally, click on Preview to check how your HTML code is interpreted.
Place the desired content in the “LEFT CONTENT HERE” to display the info, which you wish to view in the left side and vice versa.
To add the desired number of columns insert the following chunk of code. In this case I am adding three columns using the following piece of code
You can mess with the padding values to adjust the amount of blank space between columns. You could also create columns of unequal width and don’t forget to make sure that the total width remains exactly 100%. The float mustn’t be tweaked and must always be assigned as ‘left’.
